“Ad Vitam”...is both perplexing and frustrating. Within its lean 98 minutes is a potentially exciting movie that unfortunately bookends an overly long and energy-zapping extended flashback. Content collapsed. One could say that this is the type of flick to watch while doing laundry or while on a plane ride.
After escaping an attempted murder, Franck Lazarev must find his wife Léo, who has been kidnapped by a mysterious group of armed men. He is caught up by his past as a former member of the French Elite Intervention Squad (GIGN) and pulled into a state affair far beyond his control.
Ben, who suffered injuries during the final confrontation, also survives. He assists Franck throughout the movie and remains a vital ally in exposing the truth. By the film's conclusion, Franck is released from prison, reuniting with Leo and their daughter as the government conspiracy unravels publicly.
